“The decision to seek bankruptcy relief was not an easy one, but unfortunately, I am at a crossroads in my life,” Morgan stated in court papers.
Morgan blamed her growing debt on a failed movie venture with Hannibal Pictures Inc. According to papers filed, the reality star says that production on “Fast Flash to Bang Time” never began because its star, John Travolta, required “various conditions” that Sonja Productions was unable to meet. Hannibal Pictures Inc. later filed a lawsuit against Morgan’s production company and won a $7 million judgment. Morgan is appealing that decision.
Morgan, who was previously married to John Adams Morgan (heir to the J.P. Morgan fortune) reportedly, listed her debt as $19.8 million with only $13.5 million in assets.
When Morgan joined the Real Housewives of New York in Season 3, she reportedly claimed her monthly income was $26,000 per month.
Randy Quaid and wife Evi have been arrested in Canada after the couple failed to appear in a California courtroom. The Quaids had a warrant placed for their arrest.
The law drama stems from an incident that the Quaids were caught squatting and causing considerable damage to a California home a few months ago.
Reports say that Randy and Evi were caught in an upper-class neighborhood in Vancouver on Wednesday (October 20), where they now face an immigration hearing in Canada.
Authorities in Santa Barbara, California have increased the bail amounts for the Quaids, according to reports; “The Santa Barbara district attorney requested an increase in their bail regarding the bench warrant from $50,000.00 to $500,000.00 to assure that the couple will appear in court.”
Katy Perry and Russell Brand have tied the knot! The couple were married on Saturday in a traditional Indian ceremony, in India.
The couple exchanged vows in front of approximately 80 guests at the luxury Aman-i-Khas resort near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan. This isn’t coincidentally, the same spot where Russell proposed to Katy.
Perry, who was rumored to be wearing an Elie Saab gown, was also planning to have a bridal wardrobe from designers Zuhair Murad and Donna Mizani.
Russell recently told the New York Times “TimesTalks” Q&A in NYC:
”We just love each other and we want to get married in front of our friends and family and keep it very normal. It ain’t about selling the pictures, it ain’t about doing no pre-nup, it’s just a normal thing.
“I’m trying to preserve it, to keep it a beautiful thing,” said Brand. “I think people get the wrong idea on how we want the wedding to play out. Love between two people is the most spectacular, yet ordinary thing in the world.”
O.J. Simpson will remain in a Nevada prison. On Friday, Nevada’s high court rejected his appeal of his conviction of armed robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers. The incident took place in September 2007 at Palace Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
However, the state Supreme Court did overturn his co-defendant’s conviction. The court decided that Clarence J. Stewart was not given a fair trial because of “the spill-over prejudice from Simpson’s notoriety.”
Simpson and Stewart are both serving lengthy sentences.
Florida attorney Yale Galanter, who is representing Simpson, said he was “extremely disappointed,” but the court’s decision “was not unexpected.”
Galanter also said this was “the first in a long line of appeals,” and that he will next appeal Simpson’s case to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Simpson, 63, is serving a 9- to 33-year prison sentence at Lovelock Correctional Center, a medium-security facility near Reno, Nevada.
Stewart, 56, who received a sentence of 7½ to 27 years, is serving his time at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City, Nevada.
Both men were convicted of kidnapping, armed robbery and other charges. Simpson maintained that it was an attempt to recover family heirlooms and the men were never held against their will.
