Paula Abdul is returning as a mentor, coach and lead judge…but it’s not what you’re thinking!  Paula is getting her own reality-competition show.
 
The show is currently titled “Got to Dance” and will feature amateur dancers of all genres to display their talents for a chance to get their big break.

“I’ve spent the better part of my life teaching, mentoring, nurturing – working with so many talented people – and I consider myself truly blessed to be able to continue to do something that I hold so dear to my heart,” Paula says.  “I am thrilled to be creative partners with Reveille, Shine, and CBS and to present the best new dance talent to American audiences. Each and every week we’ll showcase the challenges and successes of a fantastic group of dancers, as they perform and compete – compelling stories, exciting competition and amazing dance performances are guaranteed.”
 
“Paula is the perfect fit for ‘Got to Dance’ …she is an accomplished dancer, choreographer and popular entertainment figure, she has a real appreciation for the talents our dancers will bring each week,” says Jennifer Bresnan, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, CBS Entertainment.

“Got to Dance” is based on a hit show that debuted last year in the UK.

Reportedly, Paula Abdul has been offered $1 million deal to appear on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.

The deal will reportedly also allow Paula to also judge on  X Factor with Simon Cowell. Simon and Paula have been meeting to discuss the terms, as reported by TMZ.
 
No word if Paula has accepted or is trying to negotiate the deal.  We’ll keep you posted.

Paula Abdul, formerly known as an American Idol judge, has announced on her Twitter page that she’ll be hosting VH1 Divas next month.

“Hi guys! im really excited 2 announce ill b hosting this year’s “Vh1 Divas”! The show will be live on Sept 17th @ 9 pm EST,” Paula Tweeted.

“This year’s VH1 Divas show will honor Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus- I am so excited!!” Paula continued.

The show will be live from the Brooklyn Academy of Music Howard Gilman Opera House in New York City.

On Monday, it was announced that Paula will not be on Ugly Betty this season.

Jordin Sparks isn’t holding back her words regarding the news that Paula Abdul was not returning to American Idol.

Jordin told E! Online, “It was dumb on American Idol’s part [to let Abdul go from the show]…I love American Idol and I respect them. It’s because of them that I got my start, but Paula was one of the original judges. She helped soften the blow for contestants when we didn’t do well. I love Paula.”

Sparks added, “The show will definitely not be the same without her, and I feel bad that future contestants will not get to experience having her on the show. I’m so sad.”

Well there’s a true die-hard Paula Abdul fan!

Paula Abdul wrote on Twitter Tuesday night that she will not be back for American Idol’s 9th season.

Paula tweeted:

“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to #IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all…being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon”.

“What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me,” Abdul continued. “It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month.

She continued, “I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.”

Paula’s manager, David Sonenberg, was recently asked about Abdul’s prospects in the wake of the $45 million deal inked by Ryan Seacrest and the sum reportedly being negotiated by Simon Cowell.

Sonenberg told the Los Angeles Times a few weeks ago that producers hadn’t even approached Abdul with a number, a lack of action he called “kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful.”

American Idol‘s  new judge Kara DioGuardi is engaged.

DioGuardi’s boyfriend, Mike McCuddy, popped the question on December 8th.  DioGuardi and McCuddy, a school teacher-turned-general contractor who has a son from a previous relationship, were on vacation in Mexico when McCuddy proposed.

No wedding date has been planned yet.
