Artist Thomas Kinkade was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
California Highway Patrol officials said that Kinkade was arrested by a CHP officer just after 10 p.m. Friday (June 11), just outside Carmel, California.
Kinkade, 52, was booked into the Monterey County Jail and was released Saturday (June 12) morning.
Kinkade is known for being the “painter of light” and his paintings of cottages, lighthouses and churches in dewy morning light.
No statement has been made by or on behalf of Kinkade at this time.
