It was definitely not the most exciting finale of Real Housewives of New York that we have seen. But, it was, in fact a season finale.
As we saw in a previous episode, Jill Zarin called Bethenny Frankel and asked her to meet for lunch. Bethenny agreed, even though she really shouldn’t have at this point. But, now we see the two former BFF’s and Jill is trying to appear sincere in an apology to Bethenny. She even brought potato latkes that she made as some sort of pathetic penance.
“I feel like we were married and now we’re separated, and I don’t want to be separated,” Jill told Bethenny.
“Well, divorce can be ugly,” Bethenny said.
“You create arguments and drama and pick fights with people and count things and then you have to deal with the residual damage,” Bethenny said. “The problem is you don’t assume responsibility for anything you do.”
Obviously, Bethenny wasn’t buying into Jill’s excuses. “I think the tides turning on Jill are the reason why we’re sitting here having this conversation”, said Bethenny.
We couldn’t have said it better Bethenny!
It was time for LuAnn deLesseps and her CD launch party. And yes, she did perform her song “Money Can’t Buy You Class”, and the girls came except Alex McCord, Bethenny and Ramona Singer. LuAnn was very relaxed and not at all embarrassed (can’t say that the viewers weren’t embarrassed for her, though).
The only thing that might have been more uncomfortable was seeing Kelly Bensimon stumble at singing along.
Jill “surprised” Ramona before the big vow-renewal ceremony in her suite to apologize for crashing in on her and the girls on “Scary Island” last week. And of course, the now renewed Ramona accepted Jill’s apology and the two hugged it out.
Finally, there were happy tears as Ramona and husband, Mario Singer renewed the vows in a heartfelt ceremony. It really was a very sweet affair, no matter how indulgent and random after 17 years.
After the ceremony, Bethenny takes Ramona and Alex aside to say a heartfelt thank you for being there for her through some very hard months. It is touching and good to see that Bethenny had some friends there for her without all the drama (ahem, Jill).
At the end of the show, we get the update about what all the ladies have been up to. Sonja Morgan is enjoying her sexy cougar lifestyle and is currently writing a novel (not to mention getting a DUI). LuAnn is continuing her singing career. Ramona flew to Kenya for a getaway with her “real” girlfriends. Alex, along with Simon van Kempen is currently appearing at book signing events and loving her new ability to speak her mind. Bethenny got married, had a baby and is moving on to her own show called “Bethenny Getting Married?”Jill is still hoping for reconciliation with Bethenny. Kelly is happy that it is sunny when she goes outside, “cause that’s a beautiful thing” in Kelly Land! And Jennifer? Umm, was she even there this season? Okay, yes she was a background piece, and we don’t know what she has been doing.
The reunion show airs on Thursday, June 10 at 10/9c pm on Bravo!
