Paul Gray, the bassist for Slipknot, was found dead Monday (May 24) at around 10:50am, at a Marriott hotel in Iowa, police said. He was 38.
Gray was staying at the Town Plaza Hotel in Urbandale, a suburb of Des Moines, when he was found by a hotel worker. Foul play is not suspected, and an autopsy is planned for Tuesday (May 25).
Amy Sciarretto, who is a publicist for Slipknot’s record company (Roadrunner Records), did confirm Gray’s death but would not comment any further.
Gray, who is better known as #2 or “The Pig” because of the mask he wore while performing, helped form the group in 1995, along with current members Shawn “Clown” Crahan and Joey Jordison.
Gray’s widow, Brenna Paul is currently expecting.
