We have very sad and tragic news.
Andrew Koenig’s friends formed a search party to look for their friend that has been missing since Valentines Day. And on Thursday (February 25), they found his body.
Koenig, who was a former Growing Pains star, was found in a sprawling Vancouver park, and during a statement from his parents, his father later said that he had taken his own life.
Walter Koenig, Andrew’s father, who played Chekov on the original “Star Trek” series, joined the search party. About two hours into the search, a friend called with the news that his son’s body had been found.
“We were looking for some clue, and {a friend} phoned us and said they had found Andrew’s body,” Koenig said at a press conference. “I went to the site, and … my son took his own life.”
The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Koenig is most known for his role as Richard “Boner” Stabbone on the hit 1980s sitcom, which starred Kirk Cameron, went missing on February 14. Cameron recently used the media to speak out to his old friend by asking him to call him, so that perhaps he could help.
Earlier this week, police in Vancouver believed that Koenig was alive and “lying low.” He had sold his possessions, paid his rent and vacated his Los Angeles-area apartment before heading to Vancouver to visit friends.
His parents had said that Andrew had quit his anti-depressant regimen last year.
He was 41. RIP
Our condolences to the Koenig family and friends. So very sad.

So very sad. RIP Andrew Koenig
My heart goes out to the family. The pain that is left with the family now is awful.
Suicide is so selfish. He’s gone and look at the pain he caused everyone that he left behind. So selfish!
