Alla Kournikova, who is the mother of tennis star Anna Kournikova, was arrested on Tuesday, January 19, on charges of child neglect.
Apparently, she left her 5-year-old son, Allen, home alone in for more than 50 minutes while she ran errands.
A neighbor called the police when they saw little Allen jump out of a window of the $2 million Palm Beach home and was “soaking wet and walking in front of his house, acting very upset.”
Police arrived on the scene, and Allen told the police officers that he “jumped out of the second story window” and got into the swimming pool because his “feet hurt.”
After an examination of the home, the second-story was about 15 feet high and Allen had landed in a white stone side yard between a pair of air conditioning units. “I hung by my hands before letting go,” Allen told the police. He then walked through a black fence and got into the pool. His feet hurt because he was barefoot when falling onto the stones.
Allen was then taken to a nearby hospital and admitted with bruising on his feet and lower back.
After Kournikova, who is a single mom, returned home and learned that her son was taken, she told police she left her son “awake and sitting on the couch watching television at the time she left the residence, and that he did not want to go with her to run errands.”
Kournikova has been released from jail on $3,000 bond for the third-degree felony.
