Mariah Carey was recently presented an award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Tuesday night (January 5). During Carey’s acceptance speech, it was obvious that Mimi had a little too much to drink!
Carey now admits that she was indeed buzzed. In fact, she says she was having “splashes of champagne” with Lee Daniels, close friend and Precious director, prior to her speech.
“We’d been sitting there, celebrating this whole time and having little splashes, and I hadn’t eaten,” Mariah says.
During her speech, Carey told the audience, “Please forgive me because I’m a little bit um, yeah,” as she stumbled her way through.
Daniels presented Mimi with the award, and she says he was to blame. “The thing is, me and Lee hadn’t seen each other in a while,” she explains. “I love Lee, but he’s a bad influence!”
Now, for anyone who saw the People’s Choice Awards last night (January 6), people are wondering the same thing. Mariah was presented with Favorite R&B Artist. When going up to the stage, Mariah needed the help of her husband, Nick Cannon. Mimi blamed her dress being so tight, but it was very noticeable that the way she conducted herself wasn’t much different the previous night.
