PETA has been using celebrities endorsements for their “I’d rather be naked than wear fur” campaign.
However, in their latest campaign, PETA failed to consult one famous, very important woman before using her image. First Lady Michelle Obama!
The latest ad, titled “Fur-Free and Fabulous!” features the First Lady Michelle Obama, Carrie Underwood, Oprah Winfrey and Tyra Banks.
A spokesperson for Mrs. Obama says that they did not give consent for her image to be used.
A spokesperson for Mrs. Obama, Semonti Stephens says, “Mrs. Obama does not wear fur.” So, PETA responds to that statement as, “The fact is that Michelle Obama has issued a statement indicating that she doesn’t wear fur, and the world should know that in PETA’s eyes, that makes her pretty fabulous,” the organization’s president Ingrid Newkirk told members of the press.
