Randy Quaid and wife Evi Quaid have been arrested and are currently in a Texas jail this morning.
Evi was arrested on Saturday, however local police state that there was a clerical error that did not allow them to arrest Randy at the same time. Therefore Randy was arrested at his home in Marfa on the next day on Sunday.
The couple will remain in the Hudspeth County lockup until they each post $40,000 bail. Also, the couple needs to answer to charges of skipping out on a $10,000 hotel bill in Santa Barbara.
In reference to the events in November, “They posted bail in their Texas felony fugitive case so they were allowed out of custody in Texas. But that doesn’t take care of California warrant…The only thing that takes care of California is if they come here and post a bond or appear here. They have to take care of the bond and get a date of appearance,” says Santa Barbara District Attorney Lee Carter.
Carter says the judge doubled their bond to $40,000 each, but if the couple doesn’t show up to take care of that amount, then he’ll issue a bigger warrant. “I asked him to make their bonds $100,000 each because I don’t see them coming,” he says.
The Quaids racked up a tab over $100,000 at San Ysidro Ranch, but after arriving, their credit card was declined. Management allowed the couple to continue their stay after saying that they had a replacement card on the way. That card never came, and the couple took off a week later without paying.
Real nice Randy Quaid!
