Bethenny Frankel has been busy promoting her best-selling book, “Naturally Thin: Unleash Your Skinnygirl and Free Yourself from a Lifetime of Dieting” lately. Bethenny recently spoke about balancing caloric “investments,” the dietary habits of Paulina Porizkova and the true meaning of “skinny.” The highlights:
Q. How does your weight-loss approach work?
A. What happens is; people are eating less because it’s more quality versus quantity. It’s a rule I call “taste everything, eat nothing,” which means, where do you invest? Rather than eating a big 7-ounce broiled chicken breast and steamed vegetables and brown rice that you don’t really want, you go in saying, “You know what? I really want a few pieces of New York steak. And I’m going to fill up on the high-fiber, high-volume foods first. I’m going to have the broccoli rabe and the salad first, and then I’m going to be able to have a little bit of the pasta or a little bit of the fatty New York steak.”
It’s kind of like a bank account. It’s the way that people shop. And everybody’s different, so it’s not cookie-cutter.
Q. Do you have research to support that the weight loss can be maintained?
A. I don’t need research. This is how thin people think. French people, all those books about Europeans, everybody I know who’s really thin, says, “I read this book, and this is why.” Paulina Porizkova, Gloria Estefan — she said, this is why I’m thin. I do what you say. I just didn’t know I was doing it.
This is a wonderful book. You won’t regret buying this book. It is available on Amazon.com.
